From Bolton Interweb
What sort of help is it that you need? We can't help with medical or legal matters and suggest you seek the assistance of a professional if that is your problem. Some common questions...
Q: Why can't I edit this site like Wikipedia?
A: Because it isn't Wikipedia and isn't a volunteer collaboration project. So we've locked out logging on and editing functions. We don't have the time or resources to manage third parties editing the site and potentially vandalising it or publishing content that is illegal or defamatory.
Q: How can I get my business or organisation listed in the directory?
A: Use the Contact Us page to request a listing. You do not need a website to be listed but you do need to be located in Bolton, or nearby and clearly (but not necessarily exclusively) serving Bolton customers.
Q: Do I have to have a website to be listed?
A: Not at all, an address or phone number will do.
Q: If you list my business or organisation in the directory do I have to give you a reciprocal link?
A: It is nice, but it isn't compulsory and there are no obligations either way. Make your decision based on whether you think the visitors to your site would find ours useful regardless of whether we are listing you, and we will do the same. That way no-one gets upset if any expectation isn't fulfilled.
Q: Can anyone suggest a listing?
A: Absolutely, customers of a business or organisation can often provide a more objective view. But we adhere to the policy of if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. We may sometimes give tongue in cheek reviews elsewhere, but in the directory, we avoid negative comment (and possible legal action) and if in doubt don't list.
Q: Can I be delisted from the directory?
A: Please see the Privacy Policy for details as to how to do this.
Q: What if you don't list my business or organisation? Can I appeal?
A: No, listings are entirely at our discretion and no correspondence will be entered into. This is a privately owned and funded site and third parties have no rights over content.
Q: Can I provide a review or information for publication rather than just suggesting a directory listing?
A: Yes, you can use the Contact Us page to submit an article. We will decide whether to publish, where on the site to publish, and you assign us copyright and must assert that any work submitted is your own and that you have the sole right to assign us copyright. Alternatively you can agree to irrevocably agree to release your contributions under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License 3.0 and the GFDL (see Wikipedia for descriptions of these licenses). Your article cannot be published without a statement as to copyright and licensing so please make sure you indicate the status when you submit. For privacy policy reasons, all articles will be credited to a pseudonym.
