Bolton Arena Health
Arena Approach, Horwich, (01204) 488117 / 488104. State of the art semi-public funded facility with memberships but also pay as you go. No pool though.
Fitness First for Women
135 - 139 Bradshawgate, Bolton. Tel: 01204 535 344. Women only club located in the town centre. Because it is for girls you get free magazines. The website says another feature is a free shower but don't worry, all the fitness clubs around here have showers.

Chorley Street, Bolton, BL1 4AL. 01204 547600/605. Classy, long opening hours, family orientated, apparently pricey.
Burnden Park, Manchester Road, Bolton, BL3 2NE. Tel: 0844 249 5336. Relatively new club on the site of Burnden Park where Bolton Wanderers used to play, with a recent name change - used to be the JJB club. No annual membership for those with good intentions but who lose interest quickly and prices are very reasonable, though you should try and negotiate out of the joining fee - if they want your business they should back down. There is one in Bury too, looks as good from the outside.
7 - 10 Eagley Brook Way, The Valley, Bolton, BL1 8TS. Tel: 0845 260 0076. Not been to this one but I have been to another of their clubs and it was superb. Bargain hard on joining and membership fees.
