Domain Name Registration
These are not local companies but to register a domain name you will need to use a Registrar.
As a domain name registrar, good service, comprehensive user tools, competitive prices. Recommended. Be warned though, their web hosting and email services have attracted some negative reviews.
The opposite to Fasthosts - very poor support, dreadful user interface, uncompetitive when you tot up all the extras needed, and they make it as difficult as possible to transfer to another host. The more difficult a company makes it for me to take my business elsewhere, the more determined I am to take my business elsewhere. Fortunately you can transfer multiple domain names instantly for a tenner plus VAT flat fee by going direct to Nominet.
Nominet is the UK Registry for Internet domain names ending in .uk. Most people use the likes of Fasthosts to register and manage their domain names as it is significantly cheaper. But if you ever have anything complicated (like changing the ownership of a domain name) or need to bypass an uncooperative or useless Registrar, these are the guys to go to.
