0800 756 8020. I hate all insurance companies. Rip-off merchants. Well, all bar one. I normally shop around annually for car insurance and last year went with LV= as not only the cheapest quote but also the best policy and a 5 star rating. Renewal time and big hike, like everyone else but some of it down to a bigger car. I tried every comparison site and all the big ones that don't use the comparison sites. Nothing came even close unless I was willing to get the bus to work and/or build a garage and/or take such an excess you wonder what they are actually insuring. But I still did an LV= re-quote and got them down by another £20. Low cost (comparatively) but anything but cheap in terms of service and policies, LV= is a mutual society and that difference shows. LV= partner with the CSMA and some unions which gets you bigger discounts and extras. Personally recommended.

Bury Road, Bolton, BL2 6PY. Tel: 01204 527350. Buying a used car is a bit scary - used car salesmen don't have the greatest reputation. I usually buy new cars for peace of mind but decided to get something bigger and more powerful so went down the used route. After visiting every used car lot in Bolton, Bury, and quite a few as far away as Oldham and Blackburn, some of them twice, I ended up buying a Focus from Manchester Motor Mart. The worry with a used car is how they treat customers when something is wrong with the car - in my case a faulty airbag light. I shouldn't have worried; these guys are true to their word and have bent over backwards to put the fault right. A mate of mine bought a Vectra at the same time and has also been pleased with his buy - sticky electric window fixed without quibble. They'll have my business next time. Ask for Roger, old-fashioned gentleman who understands about decent customer service. Easy to find the place - look out for Wellington Garage close to the Shell Garage, and Manchester Motor Mart are in the same compound - there are a couple of other car lots adjacent that are unconnected.
