Bolton Interweb:Privacy policy
From Bolton Interweb
The only place where you enter an email address is in the Contact Us page. We will only use an email address you send us to reply to you if you have asked us to, or to query a listing request. The email address will not be used to market services, nor will it be sold or passed to others, including internally.
If you want us to remove a listing, please contact us via the Contact Us page and we will respect your wishes. However, because it has been known for competitors to try and get a business removed from directories, we will need to know that the person making the request is legitimate. Therefore you must provide an email address linked to the business's website, and we will reply to ask for confirmation (to ensure your email address hasn't been spoofed by a competitor). If you do not have a way of confirming your identity via email, contact us and we will give you a snail-mail address to use.
We do not put email contact details onto listings. This is because the directory will be visited by "bots" harvesting email addresses for later spamming purposes. An exception to this rule is where the website being listed specifically provides an email address that it asks people to use for contact purposes.
If you submit an article rather than a directory listing then we will retain the original, and copyright assertions, for reference purposes should this be needed at a later time, for example in the event of copyright dispute. Since we cannot validate the identity of any submitter of articles, a pseudonym will be used in all cases to avoid incorrect and malicious attribution of views and opinions to particular individuals.
When a visitor requests or reads a page, or sends email using the Contact Us page, no more information is collected than is typically collected by web sites. We may keep raw logs of such transactions, but these will not be published or used to track legitimate users. The site sets a temporary session cookie on a visitor's computer whenever a page is visited. Visitors may deny this cookie; it will be deleted at the end of the browser's session.
Our policy is that personally identifiable data collected in the server logs may be released only in any of the following situations:
- In response to a valid request from UK police or law enforcement agencies.
- When necessary for investigation and reporting of abusive or spam email.
- Where a visitor has been vandalising or otherwise damaging the website, data may be released to a service provider, carrier, or other third-party entity to assist in the targeting of IP blocks, or to assist in the formulation of a complaint to relevant Internet Service Providers.
- Where it is reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of ourselves, our users or the public.
- When a site is suggested for listing and contains, or links to other sites that contain or link to, content considered illegal in the UK, in which case a report and all available information will be provided to the appropriate authorities to enable them to identify and deal with potential offenders.
This website is hosted on servers located in the UK and is subject to the laws of the UK.
