The site is owned and maintained by Evrose and as such we retain overall editorial control. We may decline or remove at our discretion any advertisement, article, link, or other item. However we will not normally do so unless we feel it is inappropriate, unfair, or otherwise not in keeping with the aims and objectives of the Directory. For example we want to keep the site free of "Adult" content and links, keep a level of consistency in how listings are worded and displayed, give everyone as far as possible a fair crack of the whip, and promote local independent business and organisations.
This site is not intended for use by young children and some articles and reviews may contain language parents may consider inappropriate for young children. Parents should ensure that they use browser filters and other software to monitor and restrict the use of the Internet by their children.
All basic business listings in the Directory are free of charge and will remain so for the foreseeable future. We do ask that if you have a website you consider linking back to us - this helps you as well as us by increasing Bolton's prominence on the Internet generally. But there is no obligation to do so. Want to be de-listed? No problem, just ask.
You do not need a website to be listed here. Many small businesses serving local customers don't have a need for a website and whilst we think in this day and age it should be your first marketing effort, they take maintenance that some don't want the hassle and expense of. We are owned by Evrose who develop low cost, high quality, easy to maintain websites, but we're not pushy and we're not going to try and sell you something you don't want or need. You will need an email address to submit a request for a listing but we will not use it to market to you.
Local businesses submitted for a listing in this directory must have a verifiable location in Bolton, or nearby and clearly a local business serving the area. Listings are at our sole discretion, and no, repeat no, correspondence will be entered into regarding a decision. Do you have a right to a listing? No, it's a privately owned website. We also list a few select Internet-only shopping sites that are not locally based but that we think provide good service at reasonable prices, and obviously deliver to Bolton. Those listings can't be applied for and are based solely on personal use - in fact applying is liable to result in instant blacklisting on grounds that we don't want to attract spam.
Can you pay for advertising or an enhanced listing? We'd need to be convinced... money changing hands creates obligations and may compromise our objectives with this site and our editorial discretion.
Can you copy the content of this site? Yes but only if you give accreditation - acknowledgment of our work, and we will get upset in a legal sort of way if you don't! Anything published under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License 3.0 and the GFDL is clearly indicated.
